Nx Cam simultâneos transitions

Hello,

 

In Nx cam it's possible to do simultaneous transitions, with the same tool? tool

if you mean paths between operations (with the same tool) along clearance geometry - No. No automatic.

Only manually with generic motion which is uncomfortable tidious way.

Ive heard about kinematic based interoperation path will be available in the future.

But dont know what we could expect from it.

To be honest... what is the practical application of this? Other than cool IMTS demos?

 

Doing a Z retract followed by XYAC or XYAB is 1 second slower?

I'd hope development wouldn't waste their time with this as there are more important features to spend development time on that we need more than cool/fancy retracts

example,

imagine machining of the part from 3 sides now =

-positioning AB  for 1.side

-positioning XYZ

-machining

-safe maximum retract for repositioning AB,

-positiong AB for 2.side,

-positoning XYZ

-machining,

-safe maximum retract for repositioning AB,

-reposition of AB for 3.side

-positioning XYZ,

-machining

-retract

end.

 

with simultaneous repostioning=

-positioning AB

-positioning XYZ

-machining

-xyzab (example dist 200)

-machining

-xyzab

-machining

-retract

end.

 

so this is what I am expecting.

* saving time

*all moves collision checked in clearence geometry

* imitating one operation working in multiple planes (like some other cams)

 other example why it can be good:

 Holemaking in multiple vectors in one operation is working.

"your nc code can follow generated paths (simultaneous transfers and fixed machining)"  VS  "after every drilled hole you have to retract to maximum for safe repositioning".. what is faster and better.

I'm not saying its not a valid feature but is this top priority??

I'd say multi axis machining path improvements are needed before we worry about linking.

We are losing many companies to competitors ,many customers ask about these features.

Why don't you lists customers you lost due to this feature only with business loss in £s,$s,€s?

 

Send this data to your Siemens sales/marketing person so that they can take it up with development to make it high priority. :-)

You can always use a machine operation and the GOTO UDE to do some save point transfer.

We do this within our post-processor, since it is always the same.

@Stefan_Pendlyou are rigth, it is working. But you know it takes time to make this paths. Read last point from one operation, first point from next operation, doing safe moves manulaly. It takes  ore time than programming of machining. Automatic will be better I think.

@DstryrI dont know about priority for this feature. I agree with you that some features what we expect are not developed yet etc.You are absolutelly right.

Many customers who has experience with other cams told me about this transitions, or about uncomfortable feature based machining - tidious settings- logic and many other features need to be improve.

There are many situations when you cannot do transition "XYZAB" safely without taking the kinematics of machine into account. The path may depend on  workpiece's position, tool length, etc.
So that it will be always manual programming. Otherwise you want another concept of toolpath generation in NX where integration with machine's model is used.
