Post Builder Custom Tool Change

I want a tool change code for a lathe that looks like:

T0100

G200T0101    <----this line is the problem

T0101

The lathe is set up to use G200 as a tool probing trigger so that the probing is optional.  I only want the G200 line to be output when a ude is set  or something.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

There are probably a dozen different ways to do this.

You could create a UDE and add it to the tool.

You will need a custom tool change procedure in the post to output the tool change code

I would create two template blocks

one with the

G200 T0101

and one with only the

T0101

Them make a custom command to output the desired block and put it in the tool change events

something like this

global mom_my_tool_probe

  if { [info exists mom_my_tool_probe ] && $mom_my_tool_probe == "TRUE" } {
   MOM_do_template tool_change_1
   } else {
   MOM_do_template tool_change
   }

  I temporarily borrowed the "Power" UDE as a trigger for this and it works great.  Now I just need to set up my own UDE.  Thanks for the help.

You could also use the Conditional output in combination with the UDE.

Makes it a bit more visual that the block is conditional.

with "return 1" or "return 0" you decide if the block is outputted.

Yes the conditional block feature added a lot of flexibility to post builder starting V8. Hopefully post configurator gets an interface at some point that offers some of the same block by block editing capability in a graphic way. At this point it seems to be developed for a different post developer (one that won't need to edit anything - or one that can code everything.)

Agreed, That would be nice to have in a graphic way.
