Post 'PPRINT' comments to NC Code using Post Builder

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hello,

I am new to Post Builder and Siemens NX. I am looking for a way to transfer PPRINT comments from CL Data Code to the processed NC Code.

For example:

CL Data Code: PPRINT/' Tool 30mm'

to NC Code: (Tool 30mm)

Thank you for your help!

What is specified in NX to get the PPRINT out?

PPRINT UDE?
Some variant of INSERT/ or USER DEFINED or ??? UDE

Something else?

(edit to clarify I'm wondering what UDE )

I don't know if I get your answer right.

The PPRINT commands are part of the Cutter Location Data File and used as some kind of a comment. I exported the Cl Data file and added some of these PPRINT commands to the Cl Data File. Now I want to achieve that the comments get “transferred” to the NC Code through the post processor.

The PPRINT commands in the CLS come *from* somewhere.

The code that generates the CLS does not add them in itself.

Typically these are added using the PPRINT UDE in an operation (or any other CAM object)

But you can also do wierd things like INSERT/"PPRINT..." and USER DEFINED/"PPRINT..."

ASSUMING you are using the PPRINT UDE...

The PPRINT UDEs are handled (in Post Builder posts) in the file ugpost_base.tcl (in "proc MOM_pprint")

That function calls "proc PPRINT_OUTPUT" (also in ugpost_base.tcl)

If you want to change behavior, you will have to over-ride Siemens' default behavior with your own.

NOTE: If you are using Post Builder (or Post Configurator) to generate posted code, you do NOT actually create a CLS file as an intermediate - NX goes directly from the internal events -> Posted code.

Are you trying to post cl file from another cam system or are you using NX to generate the cl file?

I am using another cam software to generate the cl files.

AFAIK...

Post builder is not intended to start with a CL file - it is intended to start with an NX part, with CAM data inside the part.

I believe you can import a CLS file into an NX part, and post from there, but I haven't done this for a LONG time, and I have no idea if it imports the PPRINTs or just the motions.
