Running NX10.0.3 and I'd say 90% of the work I do is 3+2 or 5 axis milling. I rely on this feature a lot and it seems lately I'm getting numbers that dont make sense. Ran it right now on a toolpath and the software comes back and tells me I need a tool length of 1.050. I look at the path, holder, vises and you can run a tool of .375 length with no collision just in a 3d path...
Anyone else notice this? Maybe a bug in my version?
There are a couple things going on here - maybe it is one of these:
First, report shortest tool was changed I think in 10.0.3 MP7 to account for the blank/IPW, so the results may be different than before. We had several PRs in this area. If you want the previous calculation, set UGII_CAM_IGNORE_BLANK_FOR_REPORT_SHORTEST_TOOL=1.
Second, this introduced a problem in NX 10.0.3 MP7 only, where the holder offset was included in the reported distance. This is fixed in MP8. The reported distance should be the distance the tool extends from the holder.
I'm using NX10.0.3.5....
If I upgrade to .8 will it mess with my template settings Mill_planar Mill_Contour etc?
