Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

What version of NX are you using?

You can use hole-making or the legacy point-to-point options.  Both will handle multi-axis motion.

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

When you create the operation, set the type to hole_making, not mill_multi-axis.

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

Also, check how you have set the tool axis.

In legacy (PTP) select "Normal to part surface" then "check" the "use arc axis" option

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

Sir,

Thanks for your reply.

I had tried both the options, but still I am not able to generate 5 axis spot drilling (may be I had created the operation in the wrong way). Pls find attached the part file. Request, if somebody can pls correct the operation and upload the part file.

You need to specify your top surface

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

Thanks a lot.

But when we tried, the tool axis direction is not getting correctly.

Pls find the attachment.

Can you pls tell us how to correct this?

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

Hello Gigy,

With use of point to point, one will come close by usage of "Specify Top Surface"

Unfortunately the surface normal points "inward", see image

I don't know if this is caused by the way your part is modeled.

Thanks,

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

I dont think it is the problem with the model because for Mr. Ray, in the same part file  the tool direction position is correct .

Re: SPOT DRILLING IN MULTI AXIS

Hello Gigi,

It depends on which face you pick, select the red one and you will have the opposite result compared to selection of the purple top face

When the purple face hjas been selected the result will be
