Siemens 840D Cycle

Hi Everyone,

I found the 2 Siemens 840D programming manual which cycle xx is different. Why? This 2 manuals all called 840D. Please do reference as attached file.

What cycle are you asking about?

The first pic is from a 2006 manual, not sure about the other one.

Also note that machine tool OEMs can support different cycles.

Other manual is from 10/2015. cnc software is 4.7sp2.

Because Siemens (control group) changes their software over time.

And they (like Siemens NX) seem to like allowing you to do the same task multiple ways, just so you can be more confused...

I've seen CYCLE83 have 14, 17, or 20 parameters.

What you need to do (assuming you have access to the machine) is program (on the control) a "dummy " program that has one of every cycle you are interested in (the actual parameters don't matter).

Print it out, and VERY CAREFULLY count the number of parameters in each cycle.

Then find the appropriate manual...

If you can't find it, they have tech support that may be able to help you (their tech support is different than GTAC)
