Sim15 Turret Setup for the Kinematic Model

I am interested in understanding why the Sim15 turret is set up the way it is, with 2 axes seemingly doing the same thing.  When I go into the TURRET Axis, it rotates the turret.  When I go into the LOWER_SPINDLE or C2 Axis it does the same thing.  The difference being that LOWER_SPINDLE is set up as a _DEVICE and the Axis Type is Spindle.  Would it all still work if we removed the TURRET machine component?

Thank you,

Hi Jesse,

good question. I´dont know why and I don´t see any need to have the axis movement and different definition in both components. TURRET axis is nowhere used as axis, as far as I see. Maybe it´s in due to historical reasons.

Thanks for the reply Thomas!  I'll try without the redundancy and report back if it doesn't work.

I do see one place where TURRET is used to position the turret to the correct pocket position during tool change.

Why we did it that way I can not remember ....
