Software to do predictive analysis for NC machining?

Gears Esteemed Contributor Gears Esteemed Contributor

While I realize this is highly dependant on machine tools, cutting tools, etc...

Does anyone know of (or use) software that could be used to do predictive analysis for NC machining?

e.g. Monte-Carlo simulations to vary machining parameters, to get tool life, spindle vibration, etc. kind of reports.

Thanks...Ken

Ken,

Somehow unrelated, but for what its worth.

At a friend's shop, all the metal cutting machine are equipped with an Arduino & accelerometer sensor (+ wifi shield). This data is plotted in real-time on thingspeak.com (24/7) so that the management can see the state of their machines LIVE from where ever they want. Run analysis, whatever...

$30 worth of hardware/machine, works, and it keeps the operators in-line also (I heard LOL). Any crash or spindle over-ride will show in the plot trends Smiley Wink
