TOOL ZERO DEFINE

Hello,

In NX , We can't define the tool zero to the center of the ball-mill,

In the below pic, as you can see, we can define only to the tool tip,

Can we move the tool zero from tip to the center of the ball-mill

Can anyone help me about this issue??Please...

Re: TOOL ZERO DEFINE

Hi!

1. Why you need to control ball-center for milling tool?

2. Sometime I did it for prob, for measurement any point on surface. In this case I generate toolpath for probe tip, but in postprocessor I re-calculate output point tool_point=tool_point+tool_axis*R;

Re: TOOL ZERO DEFINE

There is the note in NX help for this dialog:

Use milling tracking points

Note You can only use user defined tracking points in Planar Profile operations.

Re: TOOL ZERO DEFINE

I would tend to abuse the post to do this, but note that in the "Postprocess" dialog, there is a check box "Output ball center".

I've never tried using it, or looking it up in the docs to see what it is supposed to do, but it is something you could try.

Re: TOOL ZERO DEFINE

Correct - use center of ball output.
