Never cut any acme threads in my life. Any trick to this? thread is 2 starts...how does NX support this?

Just define the tool correctly, and you get acme threads.
I don't know if the depth per pass settings would change for Acme vs. "standard" (60 deg) threads.
I'm currently in NX7.5, so I see "number of starts" right on the lathe thread dialog.
Note NX offsets the start point for each pass - visible when you generate/replay the path.
If you want to use a cycle that supports multiple lead threads (e.g. Siemens CYCLE97) then you may have to use a UDE or ??? so NX doesn't do that offset.

oops... I saw "thread" and missed "mill"
I was describing turning threads...Doh!

It may not be the ideal solution but you could program two identical threamilling operations and then transform one by 180 and 1/2 pitch to do thejob.

The good news is that Multiple Starts is in Thread Milling in NX 11:
To do it now with a single tooth tool, you need 2 operations. You could transform as described above, or make 2 operations, and clock the CSYS for one 180 degrees.
With a multiple tooth tool, I think you could do it with one operation, with the lead at 2x the pitch on the threading tool.

This is what I was trying to get across in my first post..
There is no way to really know the results of the operation until you cut one because NX doesn't use the threadmill shape...

NX11? That's too bad. We've been manufacturing double and triple lead threads (milling internal threads) for over 10 years now. Planning on switching to NX10 soon.
Can NX10 thread mill tapered thread? Not pipe thread, but user defined tapered thread?
I have to use my home-made excel spreadsheet or knock on another programmer's door who uses SolidCAM for a tapered thread output and paste it in my NX operations.

NX8.5 - hoping to update to NX10 soon!
