Re: Tool tracking point

From my experience, that was used when using CLS files and old (GPM/MDF) posts.

Note there is a long standing "on again"-"off again" issue with whether or not TLANGL and RADIUS were output on the tool definition line in the CLS. (it has vascillated many times over the years)

My Postbuilder posts don't require it set, so I pretty much ignore it now

Why were you interested in using it?

Re: Tool tracking point

The use of the tracking points depends on how your establishing the tool offsets at the machine and how your operators expect the see the positions in the NC program.

Are you compensating for the tool nose radius at the machine control? if so then use P9 and the output in the program will be the center of the tool nose radius.

Are you touching off the tools with a probe? Then you will need to select the tracking point that corresponds to the touch off point.  This will also change the way the motion in the program is output. It will reflect the tracking point.
