Toolpath Hidden by Check Surface

Working thru 5-Axis Bulkhead Machining Tutorial.

When I select an operation (that has been previously generated) in the Operation Navigator - Geometry pane the toolpath is hidden because the check surface covers the entire part??

The check surface select was the EndCapWindow only.

Is this a bug or is there is setting I should change?

Thank you for your time!

Correction, the blank surface covers covers the entire part.

First image is the display after generating tool path (looks good):

Secong image is if I select the operation (that has been previously generated) in the Operation Navigator - Geometry pane the toolpath is hidden because the blank surface covers the entire part (not good):

Check Menu > Preferences > Visualization Performance, and be sure Disable Translucency is OFF. I have seen this a few times, but not sure why.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your reply.

Your suggestion allows me to see the toolpath but the transparent blank geometry is still displayed.

Interestingly enough the tutorial recommends turning off transparency while your suggestion does the opposite.

My concern is if the stock/part geometry is more complex displaying transparent stock will add a layer of confusion/complexity.

Looks like a software bug.

Would it be possible to confirm with the developers in Germany?

Thank you.

Re: Toolpath Hidden by Check Surface

The blank used to always display translucent.

I'm looking in to it, to see what changed and why.

Thank you Mark!

Re: Toolpath Hidden by Check Surface

Mark,

I've seen this in NX11 IP20, too. In that case the geometries really have been set to show.

Hi Joachim,

Thank you for your reply.

I don't understand "In that case the geometries really have been set to show."

Please explain.

Thank you

Re: Toolpath Hidden by Check Surface

Hi Quaffe,

when I looked in the Part Navigator. The actual features were switched from hide to show.

Best wishes,
