Transition area machining at turbine blade

Hello colleagues,

I have faced with the problem of programming a path for a blade. I have no idea how to make a spiral path like this on the part. If you have any idea, please help me.

See the attached part file. Is this what you are looking for? I used the new Variable Axis Guiding Curves operation.

 

The graphics in your picture make it difficult to see exactly what tool path you desire.

Jkane1, thank you for your fast reply.

I have special blade milling machine with 2 jaw chucks.

I need to machine platform and radious. I highlighted them in red colour. I need to find a method to create spiral path which cover platform and radious.

he probably wants spiral pattern to "open" blade and then helical stepovers to machine blade with full depth of the tool

Hello

 

Maybe this is an inspiration for you:

I deleted the radius around the blade. Removed the contour of the blade "Foot" and made it a little bit bigger in the outer range. 

After that you recreate the radius.

After this modifications i created an operation "VARIABLE_AXIS_GUIDING_CURVES" like Mr. Jkane1 some changes in the min/max Angle.

The only problem is you got a toolpath with no cutting material.

Maybe with "Edit Toolpath" you can trim this path to perfection.

Jkane1, How did you create spiral path? =) When I repeat your example, I have got Zig strategy.

I also used Guiding Curves to create the path, and GC is still under development, so you may not have all the current functionality. What version of NX are you running?
