Translation-files in NX10

Hello!

I've a question to the translation-files in NX10. For example "\LOCALIZATION\translations\german". There are many .txt-files the user can extend them for own terms, e.g. for user defined operations or user_cycles or messages out of the post. I've done it and it works.

But what's the scenario for the updating the files? If I get new translation-files with a new MP I don't have a chance to update the files in an easy way. I have to do it with handwork.

How SIEMENS has thought about that?

Have you looked at a text comparison utility (e.g. Winmerge)?

List files side-by-side, and move changes either way.

Note you can also compare folders to find changed files, then look at each file from the folder results.

The ability to work on individual difference within a file only works with text files, but that's what you said these were. (binary files are reported as different, but you can only replace the whole file)

I would never try to do customization/system admin without it.

Hello Ken,

of course I have a comparison utility. Nevertheless, I think this is a bad solution. Is this what SIEMENS want to have?

Hello SIEMENS!

Don't you have a better solution for this topic? I can't believe.

Maybe we do, but you need to ask the right people :*)

You are asking NX CAM users and technical experts here.

I would log a call with GTAC, or maybe ask in the Customization Forum
