If a solid/probe type of tool is to be created, you need to import the tool from library.
So it makes it more difficult to pass probe information to the post.
I don't have Renishaw Cycles simulation on NX CAM, so I want to output the length of the probe stylus to the NX program in order to alert the operator.
But since the probe is not parameterized like other tools (mills or drills), using the tool attributes are the only way I can think of achieving this. I have to set them to some destinated values every time I load a different probe and it is error prone, since attributes of a tool don't link with the graphic tool model.
Any better ideas on this?
Thanks in advance
In th esample probes, we put the stem length in the description. Have you looked at this?
Var: mom_cutter_description = Single tip dia 9mm x stem 72mm
Yes, I noticed its information can be saved to template too.
This seems the most reseanable approach right now.
But still, if NX will someday make the probe to parameterizable, just like other tools, it would be better. Because at the moment , except for having to model a probe, NX is also not able to report probe collision.
By the way, I am using NX8 and testing NX9.0.
