Re: bug in face mill with stock?

I don't understand what you are trying to cut in your part.

The blank selection is very unusual, and does not look like the material prior to cutting. It looks like you modeled the removal volume, but the system will determine that based on the blank and part.

If you generate from the Cavity Milling dialog, you can go imediately go in to Analysis Tools and see the cut region that the system has determined for each cut level.

Re: bug in face mill with stock?

Hi

thank you for your answer.

i really modeled the stock to remove and i expected the system to remove only the stock, but the system worked also on places that are not the stock.

in fack the tool cuts air in empty places.

what is right to remove only what i want?

thank you,

Amnon

Re: bug in face mill with stock?

NX is not working by specifying the volume to remove, it usually determines this on its own.

What limits do you want to apply for your strategy?

There is a lower limit plane, minimum engage move length and other things to limit the tool path.

Re: bug in face mill with stock?

There are many ways to contain the tool path to the area you want.

Have you gone through the Die Machining tutorial?

Re: bug in face mill with stock?

When disabling Cutting Parameters => Strategy => Cut below overhanging blank there is less machined than with it enabled.

Still it is more than the designed volume.
