Hi

 

#Information

- Version : NX11

- Tool : Spheical_Mill type

- Machine : 3axis milling

- Request :

sample.png

 

area is undercut. I want to create a tool path with a 3-axis operation.

It is possible in 5 axis variable conture but not in 3 axis operation.

I wonder if there is a way to do it in 3-axis operation.

There are lots of ways to do this. The main thing is to understand the projection vector. If you project straight down, then the system cannot see the undercuts. Several operations always project along the tool axis, such as area milling drive method, or cavity milling. Surface contouring gives you the most complete control of tool axis and projection vector independently, so I would look there.

If you open my sample you will see Projection Vector straight down. This vector important if you have defined Part Geometry. If not - Projection Vector can be ANY vector...
