drilling NX11

I just begin to use the new operations of drilling in NX11 and my knowledge in the new operations of drillings are nothing...!
Holes are not modelled, I just have points and 2 surfaces (begin and depth of holes) and all my points have to be according to a vertical band

How to do it ?

I tried to do :

Select point to point > I gave up...Man Indifferent

Select all the points (crtl+A) > impossible to find normal

depth according to my end surface > I don't know..

Vertical band according to vecteur Y > I gave up... to

any help will be appreciated

attached example (Nx7.5)

Re: drilling NX11

yes i know , it's a good example for a basic part... , i don't use a solid ,just 2 surfaces and points

thanks anyway

Re: drilling NX11

How have the points been created?

Have you tried to tag the points to get machining features?

You know that the new drilling is working totally different than the ancient P2P and that there might never be support for drilling with only points, top and bottom faces.

I understand but I hope for a solution to my problem , everything is projection in Nx Smiley Wink

See the NX documentation about tagging features. Also display the navigation panel to the left to have easy access to related topics.

thanks for the link

Re: drilling NX11

tag is not a solution for me ,select every points, define a vector for every points, for about ten points it is ok but more than hundred it is too long...

P2P I miss you...Smiley Sad

Re: drilling NX11

[ Edited ]

This may not be the answer your looking for but you can still use the "Old" p2p operations.

open up the .opt file

For example

C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 11.0\MACH\resource\template_set\cam_general.opt

and uncomment the drill.prt

Remove the hashtags

## ${UGII_CAM_TEMPLATE_PART_ENGLISH_DIR}drill.prt

I am still using PTP.   I need the Engage and Retract motion on many operations and that is not availble in Hole Making.

Re: drilling NX11

thanks John , I think that if Siemens still leaves "Old" P2P , it is other users are not satisfied yet but for how long ?
