probe dia output / tracking

anyone know why im getting an extra .100 added into my probing output?  i cant find any way to use a tracking point in the probe sub ops.  i have also tried the OOTB renishaw post.  it seems like the OOTB probe may be .200 dia and i just dont know how to use it or tracking points corectly

 

while pobing a wall @ Y6.00 i get posted output of  P9811 Y6.1 S54.  S/B P9811 Y6.0 S54

same with the x direction when probing a wall @x-2.00 i get P9811 X-2.1 S54 and it S/B P9811 X-2.0 S54

I'm guessing you're saying that it's adding the radius to the Z output.  I had this problem and I ended up just putting geometery into the tool assembly so that it would track the bottom.  If I clicked on the ruby sphere it would track everything from the ceter of the ball.Capture.JPG

z is working fine.  its X and Y direction that are showing to be off by .100.

 

to me it seems the probe is moving to the intended wall located at X6.00 and its using some sort of tracking point or offset that is keeping the c/l of the pobe off the wall by .100 resulting in a posted output of X6.1  i huess what im after is just c/l output of the probe.

 

when i change tool from probe to none,  i get the corect output of x-2.0 and y6.0 so it must have something to do with the probe and or lack of tracking points.

Did you specify a tracking point when building the tool? Also, try adding the set tacking point sub-op.  You can use Ken's MOOG_Show_Globals to see if there is an array that contains the numbers you're looking for.

I think you nailed it with the tracking point sub op.  I cant figure out how to create a new probe model and save into a library or abb tracking points to it.  very different from standard tools and tracking points.  using the default probe it will not allow tracking points as shown in the pic.  no matter what i enter the OK button will not activate.

If the OK button will not activate, something required is not specified.

 

In the help, search for the section "Add a solid tool to the tool library"

The basic process:

Open the part file with the probe model.
Create a new CAM setup, pick solid_tool.

Create a tool: type = solid_tool, subtype = probe.

Export Tool to Library.

thanks for the info.  i was able to create my own probe.  ( i cant search inside nx help due to a java update and IT aproval)  so thank you for the step by step.  after all of that, i still cant get the tracking points to work.  the only work around i have found is to enter half the probe tip dia into the stock box.  after that, it will probe to actual diminsion i was looking for.  any other ideas?

 

the probe dia is 6mm (.2362 ).  so half of 6mm = .1182

 

adding -.1182 into the stock field

Great question.  i just looed in all of the custome commands that were labled probe and did not find this variable.  is there a specific location i would find it or write it?

I found it using Ken's MOOG_Show_Globals procedure.  Do you have this downloaded and loaded in your post?  If not I would HIGHLY recommend it! It is very useful to get all the variables that aren't listed in the variable browser in PB.
