A UAV is launched via multiple rocket boosters. The booster pack must separate safely from the UAV without striking the vehicle. Physics-based prediction models were made to analyze the separation trajectory. An unsteady Simcenter STAR-CCM+ analysis was performed to validate the prediction model. The simulation analysis used Overset Meshing and Dynamic Fluid-Body Interaction to analyze the trajectory. Both the prediction model and the unsteady simulation show the booster pack will separate cleanly from the Air Vehicle. The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ model increased the confidence of internal and external customers that the UAV will launch safely. To aid in the analysis, java and PBS scripts were used in conjunction to develop a recursive method of submitting jobs to HPC as a workaround during periods of heavy computing resource usage.
