Rapid product development and lifecycle management of complex technology increasingly require the use of advanced software for design, analysis and project management. SiemenseAircraft is developing full- and hybrid-electric propulsion systems for aircraft ranging from Light Sport Aircraft suitable for flight trainers all the way up to testbeds proving the feasibility of commercial electric and hybrid electric passenger transport (eFanX). Development of Siemens electric propulsion systems is facilitated through the use of software packages selected from across the PLM suite including NX CAD, Simcenter, Amesim, and others. An overview of how the PLM software suite is implemented in the eAircraft organization is presented alongside several use cases relevant to the aerospace and defense industries. Additionally, the digital native nature of the aircraft business will be discussed as eAircraft begins to move from DigitalTwin into Digital Production and further into Digital Performance.
