Importing geometry into stand alone Fibersim

Hi,

Is it possible to import geometry file (Iges, Step) into a stand-along Fibersim? If yes, how?

Thanks,

Aero1

Hi Aero1,

Importing geometry is possible based on the CAD system and not reliant on Fibersim. Can you clarify the geometry and features you are importing and it's desired relationship to a composite part definition, i.e. curves representing ply boundaries or surfaces representing the layup mold? What is the objective once the geometry it's imported?

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, I was wondering if I can import the geometry (let's say a simple half dome geometry) from SolidWorks  and use that as a base (mold) and then start covering it with plies,... applying forces and set up boundary conditions and finally study internal forces (stress values),... is that possible?

Thanks,

Aero1

Hi Aero1,

It would require both Fibersim and a CAD system previously listed by Nathan. Fibersim is an environment for composites within CAD systems and not stand-alone. Thanks for clarifying.
