Fcad export?

Is there a way to export factorycad files into plain AutoCAD and keep the 3d items.
This would be for shipping to customers, so no factoryCad editing would be required.

Re: Fcad export?

Hello, Steven,
Deepak Gokuldas has asked me to post this response to your question:
If users who do not have FactoryCAD want to view and modify drawings containing
FactoryCAD objects, they can download the free FactoryCAD Enablers software from
the siemens.com/ugs web site. They do have to register to get the software, but
there is no charge. With the FactoryCAD Enablers installed, they can modify, save,
and send the drawings back to you without losing any FactoryCAD object information
and without unnecessarily increasing the file size.
If installing the free FactoryCAD Enablers is not an option, you can save the drawings
with detailed proxy graphics. The proxy graphics increase the file size, but enable
users to see the FactoryCAD object graphics. The drawing retains the FactoryCAD
object information, so if the user later decides to install the Enablers, he would
be able to work with the objects, provided he has the same AutoCAD and FactoryCAD
(Enabler) versions you are using.
To save the objects with detailed proxy graphics do the following:
- Choose "F-Tools-->Export Utilities-->Save with Detailed Proxy Graphics".
At the command line, the following prompt appears:
"Draw alternate proxy? :
- Enter "yes".
At the command line, a confirmation message appears:
"CIMF_DRAW_PROXY_MODE_BALLOONS_YES"
Once proxy mode has been turned on, if you are in plan view and save the drawing,
the drawing will be saved with 2D native AutoCAD geometry included for the FactoryCAD
objects. If you save the drawing in an isometric view, then the drawing will be
saved with 3D geometry.
This proxy mode setting remains on only for the current AutoCAD session. If you
restart AutoCAD, it reverts to off and you will have to repeat the steps if you
want to turn it on again.
Regards,
Deepak
