Sensor to detect resource

Pioneer

Hi everyone,

I have a plant where I have to detect the pose of a clamp by a proximity sensor. The clamp is held back by a spring and moves the other way when a product is inserted, so it has sort of an open and close pose. When the product is inserted, the clamp will move in range of the proximity sensor, which then sends a signal to a PLC. My question is if it is possible to detect the pose of the clamp using a proximity sensor. I know that it is possible to detect a part with a proximity sensor, but not sure about detecting a resource.

Thanks!

Possibly you could use a Joint Distance Sensor in your Clamp Logic Block parameters. Then the Clamp sends the PLC signal.

  • Joint DISTANCE sensor – indicating the actual value of the joint at each moment.
  • Joint VALUE sensor – like a micro switch indicating the reach of a pre-defined pose.
