As a NX/TC user I work with JT files, but I cant use them to tranfer geometry to suppliers/clients because most of them cant open JT files. So they ask me to convert the geometry to step, iges... Most people doest know about JT2GO because it is not useful for them. In my oppinion if JT2GO were able to be used as free visor not only for JT files but also for step, iges... more people would have JT2GO installed so JT files would be more used too. Maybe even if it were able to convert JT to step even better for make JT a more used format.
Since a version of JT2Go is not specificied in your post, I will presume you are talking about the desktop version of JT2Go on Windows. If you can export your files to STEP 242, JT2Go 11.2.3 is able to load those types of files. Other conversions from Step to JT and IGES to JT are not supported, because they are paid for features of Teamcenter Visualization, which JT2Go desktop is based on, and cannot be given away for free.
I just wanted to say to Siemens PLM people what I think would help to spread use of JT files on the industry. Maybe I am wrong, but I think is good to share oppinion. Thank you Rick anyway.
JT is the common language of PLM and is the world’s most widely used 3D format. JT is the first ISO International Standard ( IS 14306-1) for 3D visualization and collaboration. Compact and accurate, JT is used throughout the product development lifecycle in all major industries to communicate the critical design information typically locked up inside a CAD file.
Siemens PLM Software customers rely on JT to be the most robust 3D visualization format available.
