I am working with Jack in some studentporjects where I would like to use the Microsoft Kinect interface.I am using the Educational version of the Tecnomatix bundle. Is there an additional Ad-on or Plug-in needet to get Jack working with Kinect?
When I want to purchase a Kinect system, which version would you recommend to buy? (V1 or V2 for windows).
Is the new Kinect v2 already working with Jack, or will it be working soon?
Thank you for your help

Kinect for Windows V2 requires the SDK 2.0 that only runs on Windows 8 or higher. So, if you run Jack on top of Windows 8 (not officially supported, but assumed to work), then V2 might actually work. Otherwise you are stuck to v1.
I am not sure about the quality differences between v1 and v2 (the latter is of course an improvement), if they really make a difference for our use cases.
Just a quick clarification to Gert's response.
Jack currenly only supports the Kinect V1 sensor. The V2 sensor is incompatible with the V1 interface.
I just got the new Kinect V2 and adapter, and I faced the same issue - there was not kinect-Jack interface. So is the Kinect V2 compatible with Jack now or Jack is still only compatiable with Kinect V1?
Kinect V2 is not supported, nor are there any current plans to add support for this.
If you want to test Kinect with Jack / PSH, you need to use the Kinect for Winows Version 1.
Optionally it should also be possible to use the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor - with an additional power supply.
have you ever tested Xbox 360 Kinect sensor (with an additional power supply) integration in PS.
I tried to do so, but PS would not recognize Xbox 360 Kinect sensor. However, I plugged it in, PS keeps demanding to plug in the kinect sensor.
In other applications the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor is working properly.
Yes - I've only been using the old XBox 360 sensor (with the additional power supply).
Can you share some more information about the problem:
Which PS version are you running?
What is the error message you get - can you provide a snapshot?
Do you have Kinect 1.5 SDK installed?
I think this is the only officially supported SDK, from a "Kinect getting started" doc I have:
If the machine already had Kinect runtime/SDK/drivers installed – please uninstall everything Kinect related.
PS Kinect will work only with Kinect 1.5 and matching drivers.
After uninstalling any existing Kinect SDK/Drivers.
This can be downloaded directly from MS:
The SDK is also included on the PS installation under: DVD_2\Add-Ons\KinectRuntime
After installing the SDK.
Connect the sensor – let windows automatically install all drivers.
Check in the device manager that the Kinect device is properly recognized.
