I have been trying to export human figures from Jack student version without success.
I also fail to import any IGES file from a CAD application.
Are these limitations of the student version ?
Export of figures is disabled in the Jack Student Version.
Import of files is supported however. It can be that some IGES files are not handled well by the translator - this translator is a no longer maintained and supplied as is. JT is the preferred file format.
As an alternative, you might try converting your iges file to VRML via a program like Meshlab. Similar to the IGES translator, the VRML translator also may not handle all files, but typically is a bit more robust.
I tried VRML, STP, IGES formats but I always get an error message (attached image) when inporting an object
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We found that there is indeed an issue with the importing. The fix to this is provided in the attached file.
Please unzip the contents into your $HOME/jack_8.0 directory.
You can find your $HOME directory by opening your command (DOS) window after Jack starts. The HOME directory is identified in the "using HOME... " line.
using HOME c:\Home
jk: read C:\PROGRA~1\Siemens\JACK_8~1.1\library\jk2.0/jksite.tcl
Thank you for the help.
I tried the fix but must have done some mistake as Jack is no longer running....
I placed the fix file in the folder shown in the first attached image.
The second image is the error message I get after trying to run Jack
It looks like the fix is in the incorrect location.
Sorry I was not more clear - it goes into the HOME directory, which in my example is this line:
using HOME c:\Home <======== This one
To avoid any file problems when correcting this, I suggest you uninstall Jack, re-install, then copy the fix file to your HOME directory.
Thank you for the explanation.
I am using windows and the Home directory is not something I am used to, but finally found it.
I am now importing with success IGES objects made in a CAD application.
