Siemens PLM Software releases Version 51.0 of D-Cubed 3D DCM
D-Cubed 3D DCM (Dimensional Constraint Manager) enhancements include:
Introduction of a Surface Normal Constraint
3D DCM supports a large range of geometry and constraint types. The latest release introduces a new constraint that makes geometry normal to a surface. The constraint can be applied between a line or a geometry with an axis (such as a cylinder or cone) and a spline, evaluated parametric, spun or swept surface. A typical use of this constraint is to constrain features to freeform faces.
Pinning Geometry During Dragging
3D DCM enables users to interact with an under-constrained model by interactively dragging geometry to investigate different configurations while ensuring that the applied dimensions and constraints are satisfied. During dragging it can be helpful to specify that one or more geometries will not move unless necessary. This capability, known as pinning, is introduced in 3D DCM version 51.0. The pinned geometries are free to move again after the dragging has been completed.
