We have several scenarios where there is not room for a detail view on the same sheet as the source view, but we need to show a dimension to a surface/datum that is only present in the source view.
So far the only solutions I've come up with are:
a) Override the dimension text to create a "fake" dimension
b) Create the detail view, copy it to the new sheet, change view boundary to include the necessary surface/datum, then create a sketch to redo the boundary of the detail view
Are there any better ways to do this?
Here's a basic example:
OK, apart from always having another base view on the sheet, the only thing I can think is to edit the Detail boundary and make it large enough to see the base line, update the View, Add the Dimension, Edit the Boundary again.
At least you will get some idea of where the baseline is as the detail source appears on the Drawing Sheet.
I clarified my original post... the override is an alternative to the change view boundary method I described.
