I got a Step file for my work. I have imported it as usuall.
But some parts are somehow not imported as solids. They looking like a solid, but e.g. if I want to use the Measure Bodies option these bodies are not recognized. Also if you are using the Clip section option it can be seen that these bodies are just consisting of shells.
Is there an option in NX to close such shell bodies so that they can be handled as solids?
Thanks in advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Use the sew command to combine the sheet bodies; if they fully enclose a volume, a solid body will be created.
If, after using the sew command, a solid body is not created; this means there are gaps and/or overlaps that exceed the modeling tolerance. You can use "examine geometry" to find the "sheet boundaries" to get an idea of where these gaps are. Try using the "heal geometry" command to clean up the model. Any gaps/overlaps left after the heal operation will have to be manually corrected.
p.s. There is an option in the STEP import dialog to "sew sheet bodies automatically".
