Compoent name/number display

NX9 TC10

When you put the cursor over a component, the "name" displays in the field, and in the status bar.  See attached image for both locations.

In our case, what is displayed is the Teamcenter assigned ID, which isn't very descriptive to our users.  This is going to be addressed in Teamcenter, but in the meantime, I'd like a workaround, if possible, to display the Descriptive Part Name.

Is this possible?

Hi Dave,

In Preferences -> Assemblies (or key in "assemblies pref" in command finder) at the bottom of the dialog you find a preference for "Descriptive Part Name Style". This controls the display you mention, but also at other places, eg. the Change displayed part dialog.

You can set it to "specified Attribute" and key in any attribute you would like to display, like the part name (DB_PART_NAME), the description (DB_PART_DESC) or any other attribute.

Johannes,

Thanks, I even had that in my notes, I just need to read closer.
