Constraint axis

Experimenter

Hey,

I was wondering if you know a constraint of something of that kind which defines that an axis can only rotate around his own axis in an assembly. He shouldn't be moved or rotated around any other axis.

Thank you in advance,

Hi,

Could you please share some use case with us?

I would like to keep this axis in this position. His only degree of freedom should be around his Z-axis

Ok...you can constrain the axis (TOUCH/ALIGN-Infer axis ) with a datum axis (Z) of the parent part (assembly part).

Yeah but if I do that, I can still move the entire assembly along every other axis

The "INFER AXIS" option restricts it to revolve around the one axis

Hi,

In my opinion you will first need a component (the first one may be you will add to your assembly) that will be fixed (permanently may be) and then you can use "Infer Axis" constraint to constrain the axis of your component with the first one.
