Hi,
as in the object, it's possible to convert NVidia vMaterials to the new NX 11 rendering material ?
Solved! Go to Solution.

The nVidia materials are based on the MDL, model definition language, format and we are working the ability to bring the MDL files into NX from other sources. It is not there yet, but we are working on it.

Thanks! Do you also know, if it's even possible to import textures to NX11?
There are some inconsistent threads in net. I want to add textures (e.g. concrete) into the "System Studio Materials" library. It makes no sense to loose to much time with converting/searching/generating textures if it's not possible to import.

Hi Andi,
For NX 11:
Now you can use your custom palette with your specific templates.
In NX 12, the Material Editor allows to save a material directly to the System Materials (or use right mouse button on the material in the "Materials in Part" palette. You will need to have write access to the specified directory.
You can also customize NX to use a different System Materials directory.
I am also waiting for a materials import functionality.

Hello Johannes,
how can I "3. Copy a material from the "Materials in Part" palette" ? My first thought was to convert existing textures (where ever they come from) into a file, which can be added in the "NEW_PALLETTE()". Or am I thinking wrong?
There is a directory for System Studio Materials in "C:\GloBus\NX11.0\UGPHOTO\ug_canned_mattex\", which contains .lwa and .tif files. Can I easily add some textures in there? I am not sure which file type (.mdl), where to find, how to generate and how to insert:
