Customize B.O.M

I was wondering if anyone had information on how to Customize the Standard B.O.M (Parts List) when creating drawings. I would like to have more columns in the table, right now I have to do it each time I create the "Parts List". I would like to have a standard file that everytime I click the "Parts List" it will automatically bring in mine and fill all the columns with the attributes.

I would like to add in:

-Material

-Overall Size (if there is an attribute that can calculate that for me and put it in so i dont have to fill it out manually)

-Weight

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

Also Does anyone know when Importing a view if it can automatically put whether its the "Top View", "Bottom View", etc. Just like when you create a section view it automatically names its.

Thanks

I've customised the BOM (=Parts List) and it's working quite well.

Follow instructions: https://docs.plm.automation.siemens.com/tdoc/nx/10.0.3/nx_help/#uid:index_tcint:id1299826:xid454367Smiley Tonguea...

  • Re structure the NX default Part List
  • RMB the new list and "Save it as a Template" under.../GUII/table_files (_metric or _english postfix will be automatically added by the system)
  • Define Parts List location under Customise Darafting Standards >Table>Patrlists>Format.
  • chanage environment variable: UGII_IGNORE_INTERNAL_PLIST=1
  • restart NX

Have a look at the video I created a while back on parts lists: https://vimeo.com/album/3065578 It covers how to create & modify parts lists. There should also be a video among them on putting weigh in the BOM.

I followed the video to put in the weight but its not showing anything. Do you have to have the right license to be able to do it?

You shouldn't need a special license. As long as the parts have a mass, it will work. Have a look at which explains how mass data can be generated for a part: https://vimeo.com/106898990

Okay I got the weight figured out (Thank You)

I got the NX Material put in as well. My only issue now is overall size of the item.

When I go to "Check Regions" -> Select the "Calculate" icon -> Then "Information" Tab -> Select "Model Properties" it gives me the Diemnsions of the Model (X, Y, Z). How do I make that show in my "Parts List" or is it not possible? If it can generate the overall size then it should be able to import that into the "Parts List". I cant find anything showing how to do that.

I know the Check Regions is a Mould Wizard thing but I use that to show faces that arent drafted, crossover faces and things like that.

Hi JoDi,

By "Bill of Materials", are you referring to the Drafting Parts List?  The reason I ask is that you cannot use the Spreadsheet functionality to edit Parts Lists, similar to how you can with Tabular Notes.  Are you able to give us any more information so that we may try to help you?
