Export Failure IGES - Hollows out to a shell

Experimenter

Hey Everyone,

Whenever I export my files to IGES or Step, in Team Center they appear as shells instead of Solid Bodies.

Does anybody know how I can fix that?

here are screen shots of my settings while exporting to IGES

Hello,

Thank you for your reply but I get this error when I convert a solid body to STEP too.

Hi @Elif,

How are you determining that the bodies are shells in Teamcenter?  Are you opening the resultant IGES and STEP files in another product integrated with Teamcenter?  Have you tried importing the STEP file back into NX?

As @FZK stated, the IGES translator converts solid bodies to sheets.  The STEP translator should maintain the solid bodies. When you export using the STEP translator a log file is created in the destination directory. Open the log file in a text editor and review the output.

The top of the log file should report something similar to:

! SUMMARY- Entities Processed Count
! SUMMARY- ------------------ -----
! SUMMARY- Line ........................: 9
! SUMMARY- Arc/Circle ..................: 2
! SUMMARY- Part Attribute ..............: 1
! SUMMARY- Font ........................: 1
! SUMMARY- Color Table .................: 2
! SUMMARY- Coordinate System ...........: 1
! SUMMARY- Parameter ...................: 1
! SUMMARY- Matrix ......................: 2
! SUMMARY- Solid .......................:
! SUMMARY- Body .....................: 1
! SUMMARY- -----
! SUMMARY- Total 20

The bottom of the log file should report something similar to:

! INFO- Total number of solids input for this translation : 1
! INFO-
! INFO- Number of solids processed without problems : 1
! INFO-
! INFO- Number of solids with problems output as sheets : 0
! INFO-
! INFO- Number of solids not processed : 0

How does your log file compare?

Regards, Ben
