Export large Assembly from inside teamcenter

Hi -

Does anybody know if it is possible to export an assembly (NX partfiles),

from Teamcenter without opening the Assembly in NX.

And if so - can it be done from the Teamcenter "standard" userinterface?

What I think about is something similar as the external translator used , if NX partfiles is in  native environment.

I have tried to export a stepfile from an opening assembly from within NX /TC) -  but it takes very long time 50 hour+ -- and sometimes NX crasch.

You mean to export the Assembly as native part or in other format?
In your request you mentioned STEP.

Is this your preferred choice?

Hi

What I mean is to export a NX assembly (which is located in the Teamcenter database)

to into a Step file (native environment).

Can this be done with opening the Assembly in a NX seesion ?

Possibly with API/ITK programming.

API = NX programming interface

ITK = Teamcenter programming interface

From NX (Managed), File > Export > STEP then pick existing part and you can navigate to the part you want to export. This approach does not need to have the part file open and will export from disk.

I've had better luck exporting the assembly to native then exporting the STEP file from the native session.

I've also seen large assembly export from Tc failing as you say due to high numbers of recursive assembly components. Example: the base frame is 'assembled' into each of the basement components by the designer of the basement components then the designer sets the properties of the base frame to Referece Only so that it won't report to Teamcenter BOM but still shows the base frame in the sub component for the basement. Terrible way to do business but...

Running update structure and part cleanup on the assembly can help but you likely won't have write access to the majoritiy of the comonents.
