Extract unlinked geometry in an assembly

Solution Partner Creator Solution Partner Creator

Hi community,

Does anybody know if it is possible to extract the geometry of the components in an assembly when the assembly is work part?

The goal is to end up with the top level assembly file containing the bodies (which represent the components of the assembly).

Thanks!

Richard

wave geometry linker can do this.

  1. make the assembly work part
  2. start the wave geometry linker feature.
  3. select type ->body
  4. and then select al the bodies you need.

Thanks for the quick reply Ruud but I need a method which results in having Bodies instead of Linked Bodies or Linked Bodies with a broken link.

I mean like when you export an assembly as a Step file and then open this Step file.

if you go to the settings in the wave feature you can turn of the associative link.

then you will get broken links.

But is there a way to get the regular bodies and its icon:

After creating non associative linked bodies, use 'Remove Parameters' command.

Menu > Edit > Feature > Remove Parameters.

@GaneshKadole's method will result in unparameterized bodies as you want. A potentially faster way to get there is to use "export part" with the "remove parameters" option or exporting the component bodies to a parasolid file and importing that to your part file.
