How to export assembly to usb stick in Native NX ?

Hello

How to export the whole assembly to a usb stick in Native NX  ?

  • I have the assembly open now in NX 9.0 how to export it ?
  • I don't want to just copy the folder is MS file manager because the folder contains lots of other assemblies and files that I don't want to include.
  • File->Export->Part (Why only part i want to export assembly ?)
  • Save as would modify the current assembly structure and I would like it to remain the same.

You can do this via the Clone command. One the main clone page pick the assembly and set it to full, then make sure your load options are set to what you need on that tab. Now one the naming tab set the output directory to your data stick. Set the define naming rule to add suffix, the add a space " " character to the input box. See image below for the naming the rules.

UG Zip utility would work too.  From the "readme" file:

UGZIPC V1.0.5

Purpose:
Exports components from an UG-assembly into a ZIP file

Requirements for this package:
  NX8.5
  WindowsXP/Vista,7 32Bit and 64Bit editions
  UG/Gateway
  UG/Open API Execute

Restrictions:
  - Does not support Teamcenter environment
  - Does not support filenames longer than 126 characters

Why the suffix is needed ?

What happens if I don't select any suffix ?

Why can't parts be named like they already are ?

Hi,

As an option...you can use a space as a suffix so thaat your file naming will remain intact.

There is one another option..but it is a bit lengthy ( more verstatile though) so i will not post it here as of now.

The reason you need the space is...the code INSISTS on changing the filename (just the way it was written)

Years ago, someone discovered that if you use a space, that is enough so the dialog thinks that you are changing the filename, but the code "behind" the dialog will strip off the trailing space, so the file names don't actually change.

I found a simple copy assembly vb script the other day in Solution Center while looking for something else.  I just tried it and it appears to provide exactly what you're looking for.  I've attached the vb script, a basic assembly and a quick movie showing how to use it if you're interested.
