How to move ordinate dimension number/text parallel to the dimension

Hi,

I have an ordinate dimension and I wanted to move the dimension number/text  parallel to the dimension but it only seems to move in perpendcualr direction. I have attached a pic for reference.

Thanks.

Check your Text orientation settings - you probably need Text Aligned to Dimension Line.2017-08-09 16_00_38-NX 10.0.3.5 - Drafting.png

Hi @Dag,

Unlinke regular Dimensions, Ordinate Dimensions cannot be positioned wherever you like.  It appears that you want your Ordinate Dimension to be positioned similar to how the regular dimension in orange is shown below:

Using @JGray's suggestion of using "Text Aligned to Dimension Line", your ordinate dimension will appear as follows:

There are other orientation methods for Ordinate Dimensions, none of which are going to produce the orientation and position you're looking to achieve.

I see. That is too bad. I was thinking of using just the regular dimension but the dimension I am measuring is radial in a section view so it would be misleading to have just linear dimension. I guess I can get rid of one of the arrow heads from the linear dimension to imply radial dimension. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the response. I tried that approach but it didn't let me put the text where I wanted. I used linear dimension as Ben suggested below and that seems to work fine. Thanks again.

BTW how do you insert a picture into the message box? I tried pasting it but it doesn't work.

Just hit the Photos icon - choose the file - wait till is loaded - hit the Done button...

Then the image should appear in the reply window and you have it in yours pictures on the server:

But sometimes the picture destroys text alignment

Unless your internet options prevent you from doing so.  Nothing happens when I click the Photos icon in Internet Explorer 11.  I have to use Firefox to embed any images.
