I'm trying to figure out what template file the parasolid and Solidworks file translators use.
anybody that can give me a hint?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Parasolid and SWX files don't use that seed file; they don't even have a specific folder.
In the meantime I found out myself that the importer uses the customer defaults instead. (Does that mean I can Kudo myself? )
Now I'm still looking for a way to have layer 255 and 256 set to "visible only" after the import. For STEP and DXF/DWG files this is possible because they use that seed file where I can preset those values.
Too bad that specific layer settings are not defined within the customer defaults.
Thanks anyway for the link.
OH well. From that thread, I found out about all the different import seed files, which I somehow missed over the years of working with NX, I wasn't sure if there was on for parasolid or not.

When you import a parasolid file, the geometry is imported to your current work part. The layer settings will be whatever you have currently set. I suppose that you are really asking about opening a parasolid file directly (file -> open -> choose parasolid file)?
I'm indeed doing "file-open" but your proposal to import it into an open prt is a very good workaround.
Thanks for the tip!
I just tested importing a parasolid file into a work part; works perfect.
The list of file types is long; Solidworks files (SLDPRT and SLDASM) are missing...
BTW ACIS kernel files (SAT) in new since NX11
That also means that 3D DWG files are getting translated now.
