Is this a NX Geometric Constrains limitation?

Phenom
Phenom

Attached is a simplified model to illustrate the issue I have.

For venting/cooling fluid flow, I need to connect two compound angled blind holes by a side drilled hole.

With basic sketch construction, how could I find the intersection point of the drilling axis and the side face?

In my Sketch (7) on the side face, I’ve created a Point on Curve Constraint but that doesn’t work as intended. I think this is a NX sketch limitation and should be revamped.

Hi @mike_fdo,

Unless I'm missing the intent, could you use the "Intersection Points" type of the Point Set command to insert a point on the face where the datum axis intersects the face and use that point to place your hole?

Thanks @BenBroad, it is one solution.

Attached is the another I found.

Both methods need extra construction feature.

Is it correct to say that NX sketch constraints are strictly 2D?

Hello mike

I guess you need to switch off the Auto dimensioning before you start sketch and then you may need to play around with constarints to avoid the Auto dimensioning .
