Re: Large Assembly Drawing Model Load Time

Refile - simply open and resave, I don't see as a viable option. If, as noted, the file is 70,000 parts: do you realize how much time that would take???? To open and resave 70,000 parts!!! Sure it sounds easy, but it would be a VERY LONG project.

It needs to be available in the Native NX also, not just TC (maybe it is, but thread indicates it is not).

Siemen's needs to come up with a macro or transition tool to use.

Minimal Load has been available since 12.0.2 in Managed Mode and it works with the drawing module as well. Problem is, is that all models have to be NX12 or higher, so a "refile" is needed. Simply open up each part file starting at NX12 and save it and it is refiled. In the real world this is however not possible because most parts are released in Teamcenter ;-)

@PhilipCarpenter

Parts which are created/saved in NX 9 and higher version will load minimally and it is applicable to both managed and native NX.

Your TC admin can use the "bypass" option to refile released parts.

Cowski and Ganesh Kadole,

Thanks for the info. Both sound like they will work in Native NX.

My only concern is what about parts in earlier NX Versions??

It was never mentioned to me to Refile older versions of NX parts, so we have parts back to NX1.

As you know NX will load part files that were last saved in older versions of NX (20+ years old) without the need to translate/upgrade the parts.  This is true for all NX load options, including Minimally Load - Lightweight Display.

While the Minimal load option will load assemblies and components from any version of NX, it provides the best load performance when loading NX 9 or newer parts.  Pre-NX 9 parts will be loaded Partially instead of Minimally.  Any parts in the assembly that load Partially instead of Minimally will negatively impact the load performance of the assembly.  This is due to the fact that Partially loaded parts cannot be threaded but Minimally loaded parts can be threaded.

If a small percentage of the components in your assembly load Partially, the load performance of your assembly using Minimally Load - Lightweight Display should still be better than Partially Load - Lightweight Display.  When your assembly contains a significant percentage of components that load Partially, then we recommend you use the Partially Load - Lightweight Display option for the best load performance.

There are many factors that impact load performance so we recommend customers test a sample set of their typical assemblies using Partially Load - Lightweight Display & Minimally Load - Lightweight Display to determine the benefit Minimal load provides.

Note:  whenever performing load test it's recommended to open - close the same assembly 2 or 3 times using the same load option to make sure your load test is not being impacted by the loading of NX libraries or populating the memory cache.
