Model View Associative to Geometry (Plane)

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hello everyone!

At that moment when I want to created a view normal to a specific plane or face, I choose it and press F8. Then I save orientation as a new Model View. That kind of defenition is not associative.

Is it possible to make a Model View associative to geometry it has been defined by? That when an angle of the plane changes, view is also reoriented.

The intent is to use that view and PMIs in a drawing later. But when geometry changes you have to manually redefine a Model View, then an orientation plane for some PMI (cause they are oriented in obsolete plane position), and at last to redefine a view in the drawing, because it is also not associative to a Model View it was taken from.

Thank you in advance

No. When you make any model view as work view and rotate the geometry, you can use 'Reset Orientation' to reset the view to its last saved orientation.

After changing the angle of the plane, you need to use 'F8' to orient the view as per your need. RMB on work view and use 'Save' to retain the changed position.

While defining the PMI, you can use 'User Defined' orientation by selecting the face of the geometry so that in your case even if you change the angle of the plane then the PMI will remain oriented with the selected face.

Thanks, that's really helpful.

It is an intermediate workflow. In future we are planning to move to 3D PMI only, without drawings.
