NX 11.0.0.33 IGS import issue. How do I clear the temp files or cache?

Experimenter
Experimenter

I had an IGS import recently fail and the application locked up and quit halfway through (a simple bushing). Now every time I successfully import(open) an IGS, no matter what it is or where it came from, it attaches the bushing to every body that is imported. The bushing is stuck in the memory or temporary files somewhere and attaches it to everything. I have to manually select the imported bodies of the bushing and manually delte out of the part navigator.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hi @tmadore ,

Did you try with new NX session?

Hi @tmadore

Go to File > Help > Log File.

Find "UGII_TMP_DIR, it will be set to some folder, e.g."C:\Temp" .

Just clear files from that folder. Restart NX and try again.

clearing the UGII_TMP_DIR and restarting NX did not fix the issue.

Try deleting items one by one from NX cache from C:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Siemens after taking backup.

This appeared to work at first, but I'm now back to where I started. I've tried everything but a reinstall.
I installed NX 8 onto the same computer as our licencing server is still up just to convert .igs parts for now.

@tmadore,

I'd be trying to update NX. That's like one of the very first NX11 releases - probably full of bugs that have been fixed.

The original issue sounds like the bushing was saved in the igesnull part file, hence it was imported each time the null part file was called.  These files (igesnullnx110_in.prt and igesnullnx110_mm.prt) can be found here, but they should be read-only so you can't write to them: C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 11.0\IGES\

Open up these null parts in NX and see if you see the additional geometry.  If you do, just remove the unwanted objects and save them, alternatively I've attached a copy of the OOTB v11 null parts if you need them.

Awesome, that was it!
Opened the null file and the ghost part was there.
Just replaced the null file with the one you attached.
Thanks!
