We have upgrade from NX9 to NX11 along with many other changes, one we are concerned about is the differences in the "SAVE AS" functions.
seems there are 3 types of SAVE AS functions.
1. SAVE AS
2. SAVE AS NON-MASTER PART
3. SAVE AS NEW ITEM TYPE
what are the meanings of each and the impact in TEAMCENTER?
Save As with a UGMASTER as the work part: Saves the UGMASTER to a New ItemID or a New Item Revision.
Save As Non-Master with UGPART as the work part: Save a UGPART (specification or manifestation - i.e., the drawing) as a new UGPART under the same Item Revision, or under a different UGMASTER (relationship to the original UGMASTER is kept).
Save As New Item Type: OOTB, Teamcenter uses "Item" as the default item type for NX datasets. If you wish to save your NX datasets under a different item type (e.g., Standard Part) you can use this option.
Hope that helps.
The SAVE AS ITEM TYPE Function was not available in NX22.214.171.124
The Save As New Item Type functionality has been available for a while now, and was available in NX9 - it just had to be enabled via the Customer Defaults: Allow Save As Different Item Type". You'll also find "Allow Save As Non-Master to a Different Item" in the Customer Defaults.
In addition, once you get to NX 11.0.1 with Teamcenter the entire saving process is being streamlined to make the saving of assemblies easier.
