NX Drafting-Parts List Strikethrough text and New Part order

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hi,

I have a drafting of a assembly with several parts. The part list of the items are created with settings-
Grow Direction-Up
Automatic Update-Selected
Sort on Update-Selected
Lock Parts List setup
Create New Rows as Locked-Selected
Allow Manual Rows-Selected
Locked Deleted Rows- Strikethrough-Selected

Also i use this part list to auto-number the assembly.

When i replace a component of the assembly , the new component comes with same part number as the replaced part and the part disappear from the part list , whereas what i require is the old part to be striken-out with qty 0 and the new part to be added at the end of the part list.

Original

5-Model1

4-Model2
3-Model3

2-Model4

1-Model5

(I do a component replace for Model3 with Part6 and update the draft)

What I need

6-Part6

5-Model1

4-Model2
3-Model3

2-Model4

1-Model5

What I get

5-Model1

4-Model2
3-Part6

2-Model4

1-Model5

Can someone tell me how to correct this?

Thanks,
Vipin

Hi Vipin

NX is behaving as it should. In order to have deleted rows strikethrough, you have to delete corresponding components in our assembly. It does not work for replaced components.

Now I have no idea how you will go to have 0 as qty in a strikethrough row because the content of the row is simply frozen. Maybe by some programing?

Hi Laurenj,

I tried deleting the item from assembly with settings

Grow Direction-Up
Automatic Update-Selected
Sort on Update-Selected
Lock Parts List setup
Create New Rows as Locked-Selected
Allow Manual Rows-Selected
Locked Deleted Rows- Strikethrough-Selected

and deleted 1 item of the assembly. But the part list just removed that item (instead of freeze row & strikethrough). Qty setting to 0 i can avoid but strikethrough is required for me. Can you help.

Hi ,

just found out a workaround in this case.

First create a copy of the part to be replaced .

Then unpack in assembly navigator.

Select the second copy of the part and replace with new part (Part6) in my case

The first copy of the part , select the row and lock it.Then delete this item in assembly navigator.

 it is struckthrough!!

Note-> the settings for the part list has to be done anyways.

I'm glad you managed to make it work. I totally forgot to mention that the rows need to also be locked. I'm not sure why you need to copy first then replace. Typically I just delete the old part, right away added the new one and when the partlist is updated, everything is fine.
