NX Viewer License Independent of Design or Manufacturing Bundles

Experimenter

Hello to All NX Experts,

I have a single question: Is there any specific license for the NX Viewer?

If so: Do you have any idea of cost? Is it a floating license?

Thanks and best regards,

I believe the NX viewer IS a separate license.

No idea what the cost is - talk to your sales rep

Ken is correct that there is a separate license. It does float.

Also it is best to contact your sales person to get the price.

Depending upon the what kind of 2D/3D/Mixed file format needs to view, JT2GO and XpresReview can be alternatives. As to use NX viewer it requires license and full NX installation.

Both JT2GO and XpresReview are based on teamcenter visualization. If I am not wrong there is no GTAC support for the JT2GO whereas it is available for XpresReview. Note that XpresReview can be only used with native NX, not managed NX.

We, too, use the JT file format for consuming data outside NX (and within too).

Thanks for the answer but it’s not the point. The idea/goal is to read the original NX files internally at the company, (e.g. Quality Department reading the 3D files created by Engineering), without getting (consuming) a NX license.

Right. That's what we use JT for.

In case you like to stay "in NX" there are 2 options which are quite similar, The NX Viewer and NX gateway application.
The NX gateway is the foundation on which you add applications like modeling, manufacturing, drafting etc.
In case you have opened a NX part file but for example modeling isn't started, you are so far only running the gateway application. you can view, zoom, print, measure. You cannot edit or create anything.
From Gateway you can start Modeling / Manufacturing / Drafting.

The NX Viewer looks and works exactly like NX gateway, but you cannot start modeling / Manufacturing / Drafting etc.

I do not know the prices of these.

Tomas

IIRC, the viewer also does NOT include the ability to plot (you can "Print", but not "plot")

If exporting/translating is a requirement (e.g. to send PDF to vendor or create DXF for a CNC program) you might also want to check that.
