NX import list. Why it jumps to start when I select standard part ?

Genius

Hello

Import Assembly into Teamcenter.

In NX 11.0.2 import list.

Why it jumps to the start of the list always when I select an item type existing standard part (=choose existing item from TC ) ?

- When I'm in the middle of a large 800 parts list and it suddenly jumps to the start of the list with these standard parts. It is very time consuming to scroll back to the same place on the list and I lose focus on the work. :-(

Any fix coming soon ? This must be a bug.

Hi @12131444,

I tested an assembly with several thousand parts in NX 12.0.1.  Having change the Item Type from "Item" to "Design" the list did not jump pack to the top - it does, however, move the line you edited to the bottom of the currently displayed rows, but I don't think that's as bad as jumping to the top:

to the OP:

If our behavior is different, maybe make a movie of it & post here (or log a call to GTAC & send it to them)

Ok. What is a good video screen capturer ?
We have a custom Item Type="Standard part" and every time I select these kind of parts with "Choose existing item"=folder-icon it chooses the part and jumps to the top of the import list.

How about the one in NX:

Menu -> Tools -> Movie ->...

Although you might want to test what it captures (i.e. just the "Main" window, or entire screen, or ?? in case your dialog is off on a 2nd monitor or whatever)

NX 11.0.2: Import Assembly into Teamcenter

We have 3 item types available and it jumps on 2/3-types( 1 is the default ).
- If you change the item type it jumps to start of the import list.
- If you Select Existing Part it jumps to start of the import list.
-> The import list creates columns for each so 3 pcs columns for each type:
1.) Company Part (set default), 2.) Customer Part, 3.) Standard Part.

"NX's movie maker" shutdowns the import list process.

yuk!

You might want to report that to GTAC as a bug?

Hi @12131444,

I just reproduced the problem in NX 11.0.2 mp6.  I can confirm that having scrolled to the bottom of the list of components being imported that having changed the Item Type, or the Relation Type, that the list jumps back to the top.  I did not see this when changng the Existing Part Action, nor did the movie stop working/capturing when using the Import Assembly into Teamcenter command.

I tested the same steps in NX 12.0.1 and the list no longer jumps back to the top having changed the Item Type or the Relation Type - so that has been corrected.  As I mentioned earlier, the row that you edit moves down to the bottom of the listing window - but this is no where near as frustrating as the list jumping back to the beginning.
