NX licence error VPN Windows 10

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hi,

I've been using NX 10 in Windows 7 succesfully with licencing trough VPN to my company. I upraged to Windows 10 and when trying to launch NX, following error occurs: "NX licence error: Licence server machine is down or not responding. Check that SPLM_LICENCE_SERVER is set correctly. [ -96]."

I've tried to reinstall NX and VPN client but it makes no difference. I've tried to disable Antivirus and Firewall. I've tried to google similiar problem but haven't found anything suitable.

I'd be very thankful if someone has a solution for this!

if you use command prompt to ping the server give this a time out or can your system ping the server machine?

Hello, thank you for answer!

I tried to ping the server found out that the server name had to be the longer version with domain. Strange thing but now NX starts normally. Thank you!

Nothing has changed in my companys end if that's what you meant? Maybe firewall is changed somehow in windows 10, altough I tried to turn it off in the first place.

Good evening,

I have the same problem when trying to open NX. So I tried to ping the server and it gives a time out...

Do you have any idea why i have this problem while it worked perfectly last week.

Thank you

Is your license on a server? Its always possible that your Connexion to the server is lost. Of the server is down.

It can also be your firewall that blocks the server

Note your firewall (or VPN software) may be blocking ports too.  By default, 28000 needs to be open.  But it also uses a few other ports (I forget exactly which).  If you have (add) a "PORT=" on the VENDOR line in your license file, you can specify the "other" port that is used (e.g. "PORT=28001")

Check your license server log file - is there ANY message from the client?

Is the client specifying the license server using FQDN? (xxxx.company.com) instead of just the host ("xxxx")?

What if you use the IP address of the server instead of  the host name (SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER=1.2.3.4@28000)?

When on VPN (if you allowed) can you "remote" into the license server computer?  (e.g. "mstsc.exe" or equivalent)?
