NX patching using group policy

Experimenter
Experimenter

Is it possible to use group policy to apply NX MPs?  Is there any special syntax or anything that we need to do with the MP files to make it work?  We have the MP unzipped on a NAS drive, and for a manual install we just run the run_ugsupdate file.

We have over 100 clients, and going to each one individually to apply the next MP is endlessly tedious, not to mention inconvenient.

The only caution is to make sure it gets applied to the correct UGII_BASE_DIR folder.

Note the (ex Rob Cohon) customized environments use the registry to find out where a particular NX version is installed, and set UGII_BASE_DIR and UGII_ROOT_DIR based on that.

This might make your update procedure more robust in the face of users installing other (newer) NX versions.

You also might want to do something to make sure everyone is on the appropriate MR first -

%UGII_ROOT_DIR%\env_print -n
or
%UGII_ROOT_DIR%\env_print -v
or
%UGII_ROOT_DIR%\env_print -m

Thanks Ken.  The UGII_BASE_DIR folder is set as an environment variable, so we shouldn't have any problems there.  Our users can't install any software, so I can be confident that everyone is on the same MR at the moment.  Just need to work out how to make group policy work....
